“Have to be seen live to be believed…The singer had to finish a slow Blues number without a P/A, a la Robert Plant. Still managed to choke me up. This gal’s a cross between Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin. The guitar player’s better than anyone I recall either of them sharing the stage or studio with.” –Quote from review of 2012 Crestone Music Festival performance

Also performing: Kathy & the Cruisers

More About Bert Wills & Cliff Boyd

Bert Wills and his friend Clint Boyd will be center stage for a blues weekend at the top of Taos Ski Valley next to the Bavarian Lodge and Restaurant. Come enjoy a weekend of afternoon and evening performances, on-site camping, campfire jamming under the stars and more.

Known in the Texas music scene as a Texas Blues-Rock legend, Bert’s music ranges in styles from swamp country and Texas swing to Chicago and Piedmont blues, conjuring up a collection of roots music echoes of everyone from Jimmy Reed and Clarence “Gatesmouth” Brown to Guy Clark and Rod Bernard. As for the guitar work, Bert offers a hallmark of the finest Houston players shifting effortlessly from blues into jazz tangents of breathtaking beauty.

Known for his wide variety of music styles, Bert is an all ’round’ musician, writing and singing some of the greatest blues as you will find anywhere, as demonstrated on his first two recordings Mr. Politician and Special Session and once again on his fourth release Tell Me Why. His third release Pavones Sunset steps away from traditional blues and enters the surf music genre. This cd release is licensed to legendary surfer/filmmaker, Herbie Fletcher for use in Fletcher’s surfing film, Stylemasters. Bert’s music earned Grammy nominations in 1995 and 1996.

Enchanted Circle Festival venue’s sound system amps, mains, and front-of-house mixing will be provided by Marcus Adams of In Room Sound (505.507.4150).
